Minister of State for Tourism Sripad Naik stated that the Bhandari Samaj has made a significant contribution in the progress of the State and that they should remain united and continue to work for the development of the state..He was speaking at Saligao at the Gomantak Mahila Bhandari Samaj melava organised by Saligao constituency .The President of All Goa Bhandari Mahila Samaj Shubhangi Vaigankar, former Saligao MLA Dilip Parulker, former Siolim MLA Dayanand Mandrekar, President of Gomantak Bhandari Samaj Ashok Naik, President of Bardez taluka Gomantak Bhandari Mahila Samaj Medha Parulekar were present on this occasion.

Naik further mentioned that the effluent section of Bhandari Samaj should help weaker sections of their counterpart to improve their standard of living. Goddess Durga serves as an icon for empowering women. A woman is entitled to live in dignity and freedom. A woman whose skills and powers are developed and nurtured, is an unstoppable force. Empowering a woman today will lead to a progressive society, said Naik.

The President of All Goa Bhandari Mahila Samaj Shubhangi Vaigankar stated that the state government has prepared several schemes for the upliftment of women, especially backward classes. Bhandari samaj women should avail of the benefits of those schemes and should ensure that information of those schemes reaches the weaker section of Samaj, said Vaigankar.

Earliar Naik lit the traditional lamp.The former Saligao MLA Dilip Parulekar , former Siolim MLA Dayanand Mandrekar, President of Gomantak Mahila Samaj, Devanand Naik and Mahananda Asnodkar also spoke on this occasion.

The compering of the programme was done by Medha Parulekar and vote of thanks was proposed by Sujata Naik.
