The aggrieved residents have expressed their problems to the PWD officer and demanded 24X7 water supply to Barajan-Bhati area.
According to sources, residents from Congarem-Barajan in Bhati Panchayat confronted PWD (water) assistant engineer Prakash Yarnal over acute water shortage in their area.
The residents told Yarnal that they are not getting proper water supply since the last four months and as some people from the area go for work in the urban, they don’t get time to fetch water.
When contacted, Yarnal said the water pump at Dessaiwada-Uguem broke down some days back and the repair work was in progress. “A new alternate water pump would be put to use immediately,” he assured.
Some locals, Kapil Dessai, Manju Desikar, Ankush Gaonkar and some women, who were also present, demanded 24X7 water supply in Barajan-Bhati area.
Speaking to The Goan, the residents said they had to fetch water from natural spring which is a kilometre away.
Efforts to contact Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar failed, as he was unavailable for comments.
