The residents at a recent gram sabha also demanded the 24x7 electricity and water supply in the village.
The villagers unanimously approved to set up a mobile phone tower of a private cellular company in Bhati.
Speaking to The Goan, panchayat secretary Manjul Naik said the cellular company’s general manager had approached the panchayat to set up their mobile phone tower in Bhati.
“One of their representatives attended the gram sabha and explained their intention to set up the mobile tower. There was no objection from the gram sabha members and it was unanimously approved to permit the company to
set up the cellular tower,”
said Naik.
The villagers also raised the issue of frequent power failure in the village and water supply problem in Bhati.
The villagers said Selaulim dam is on the border of Bhati Panchayat area and they don’t get water from the dam, but other parts of Goa are receiving water from Selaulim dam.
The villagers pointed out that there are frequent power cuts in the village and in summer, it is unbearable without electricity and fans.
They requested the panchayat to solve these issues and they want uninterrupted water supply and electricity supply.
The annual estimated budget for 2017-18 of Rs 2.30 crore was presented during the gram sabha.
The villagers said various developmental works like construction of compound walls to temple in Villian, desilting of drainages and works need to be done soon by the panchayat.
