Bicholim BJP musters 5,000 delegates for Shah’s event

The members of Bicholim BJP Block said they have made sincere efforts to bring together about 5,000 delegates from Bicholim taluka to attend the felicitation programme of BJP’s national president Amit Shah and Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar at Campal rnon April 9.

Addressing a news conference at Deendayal hall Bicholim, BJP’s press convenor Premanand Mhambrey said Amit Shah has played a major role in giving victory to the party in UP, Uttarakhand and also in Manipur and Goa, and hence the State BJP has decided to felicitate him as a mark of gratitude.

Bicholim MLA Rajesh Patnekar said several group meetings at booth level have been convened in Bicholim taluka under the guidance of BJP leader Sadanand Shet Tanawade and all the meetings received good response from the delegates in order to make the felicitation programme of Amit Shah a success.

Candidates may get only 2-3 days for campaigning

Candidates seeking to contest the panchayat polls will have only barely two to three days to campaign, with the State government publishing an amended set of draft Goa Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat (Election Procedure) Rules 1996 which reduces the number of days between the first date of filing of nominations to the date of voting to ten days.
