Captured by : Bicholim residents demand the construction of retaining wall near old bridge
BICHOLIM: Villagers from Bicholim have demanded with the PWD (roads) Bicholim to construct a retaining wall near the old Bicholim bridge, which was left open during construction of river front project.
It may be recalled that WRD and PWD jointly constructed river front project in between the two bridges. This project is named as Setu Sangam (meeting point of bridges). However, during construction of this Rs 30 lakh project, about 10 metres portion of the road on right side of the old bridge has been left open.
“While constructing the river front project, about 10 metres area to the right side of old bridge has been left open, endangering the people. The authority concerned should construct a retaining wall at this place for the safety of the people,” said Pravin Teli from Bicholim.
Villagers have demanded with the PWD (roads) to construct retaining wall at the open stretch as early as possible.
