Bicholim Shigmotsav ends with Dhulwad

BICHOLIM: The Bicholim Shigmotsav festival ended on Thursday evening with a Dhulwad (Rangpanchami).

The Shigmotsav that started with Gades was followed by Ghodemodni, Pandavachi Holi and annual Natyamahotsav and concluded with the Dhulwad.

People participated in Dhulivandana, sprinkled colours on Goddess Shantadurga at the Mutt Mandir in Atil Peth and later marched towards Wadakade-Bordem to sprinkle colours on Lord Wadeshwar.

Later, the revelers sprinkled colours on each other and played a Dhulwad accompanied by a band of dhol and tashe. Dhulwad marks the end of Shigmotsav festival.

Gudi Padwa celebrated at BicholimBICHOLIM: Gudi Padwa was celebrated in Bicholim with religious fervour on Friday. Villagers from Bicholim organised a Mangal Yatra (procession) at dawn. The procession started from Shetye Udhyan and marched towards Bordem, Bhailipeth, Atil Peth and Sonar Peth in Bicholim, before culminating near Shetye Udhyan. Environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar spoke at the gathering and narrated the importance of Gudi Padwa.
