PANAJI: Nine teachers from across the state will be felicitated by Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma on Teachers Day today (September 5), in Kala Academy, at 10 am. The recipients of the prestigious ‘Goa State Teacher’s Award’ were announced on Tuesday by the Directorate of Education.
The awards are given in five categories: Primary School, Secondary School, Headmaster, Higher Secondary School, and Principal.
The following teachers will receive the Award for the academic year 2017-2018. From the 'Primary School Category', the award will be given to Sambhaji Vishnu Raut, teaching at Government Primary School, Mestawada Bethoda, Ponda.
Four recipients have been announced in the Secondary School Category: Subhash Vithu Sawant, teaching at Sateri Vidhya Mandir, Ibrahmpur, Pernem, Wilma Maria Pereira, teaching at Deepvihar High School, Vasco, Shweta Suhas Prabhu Dessai, teaching at Mahila and Nutan High School, Margao, and Gajanan Raghoba Shetye, teaching at Shri Shantadurga High School, Bicholim.
Two recipients have been announced in the 'Headmaster Category', viz. Devidas Kudav, Vice Principal, District Institute of Education and Training, and Girish Tendulkar, Headmaster, Gananath English High School, Nirankal Ponda.
From the Higher Secondary School Category, the award will be given to Cora Coelho Abreu, teaching at Loyola Higher Secondary School, Margao. From the 'Principal Catogory', the award will be given to Ramdas Vassudeo Kelkar, principal of Sapteshwar Institute of Higher Education, Mandrem Pernem.
