Two miscreants, both natives of Bihar, who allegedly tried to dissolve a gold chain under the pretext of polishing the same, were given a sound thrashing by a mob at Majorda on Saturday evening before handing them over to the police.
The two miscreants, who now face charges including cheating, are convalescing at the hospital.
Colva police informed that the duo tried to deceive and cheat a 60-year-old complainant Chandra Yalgukar a resident on Majorda on Saturday.
The accused persons, Chandrashekar Sah and Sonu Kumar, both natives of Bihar with their common intention removed the gold chain from the neck of the complainant under false pretext for polishing the gold chain and put it in some kind of solution in a container and dissolved some part of it. They later returned the gold chain to the complainant in damaged condition, thereby dishonestly deceiving and cheating the complainant.
Colva police said the duo will be taken into custody after their discharge from the hospital.
