Old Goa police on Monday arrested a Bihari youth on charges of kidnapping a minor girl. According to Old Goa Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, a complaint was lodged on Sunday by the mother of the 15-year-old girl stating that her daughter was missing from morning after she had gone to attend tuition classes.

Police investigations revealed that the girl was in contact with a person over the phone and call details revealed that the accused was proceeding to Margao along with the minor girl.

Accordingly, a team was sent to the Margao railway station at midnight and subsequently at 1 am on Monday, the girl was rescued and the accused was nabbed while they were ready to proceed to Bihar. “A slight delay in police action would have helped the accused to flee to Bihar, which would have made it difficult to trace them later,” PI Dalvi said.

The accused, Arvind Khuswah (20) from PDA Colony in Corlim, but a native of Bihar, has been arrested under Sections 363 IPC and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act and has been remanded to two days in police custody.

Further investigation is in progress by PSI Edwin Dias under the supervision of PI Dalvi.
