Mapusa police on Wednesday arrested a Bihar native for allegedly assaulting a neighbour with a chopper at Cunchelim, Mapusa.
The accused Sunil Kumar Ray was apprehended for assault, abuse and threatening to kill.
According to police, the complainant Ashish Kumar Jha said that the alleged accused who is his neighbour came to assault him with a chopper and also abused and threatened him of dire consequences.
Mapusa police constituted different teams and after collecting enough intelligence of the accused began a search operation to nab him. The police identified the accused and nabbed him at Cuchelim, Mapusa. The accused has been arrested under Sections 504, 326 and 506 (ii) of the IPC.
Mapusa police team of PSI Sunil Patil, HC Sushant Chopdekar, PCs Prakash Polekar and Akshay Patil were involved in tracing the accused.
Further investigation is being conducted under supervision of PI Vijay Rane, DySP, Jivba Dalvi and SP North Nidhin Valsan (IPS).
