A video of a youth performing a dangerous stunt and jumping traffic signals near MES college junction went viral on social media, sparking off angry reactions.
The 28-second video showed a youth with a grey hooded T-shirt standing on a speeding bike without registration number plates and moving extremely dangerously in between vehicles that were waiting at the signal near the MES college junction.
The video was shot by another person on the bike behind the stunt man.
The video also showed the stunt man jumping the red signal at the MES junction without fear of colliding with oncoming vehicles and the person who shot the video also followed the stunt bike by jumping the signal himself.
The person performing the stunt on the bike was seen with his hands spread out wide while standing on the bike. The video quickly evoked sharp criticisms from people and netizens.
Raghavendra Nayak of Vidhyanagar Colony said such stunts could kill.
“Such persons should be dealt with strictly and a hefty fine must be imposed. Such people cause troubles to others. He would have crashed against a vehicle moving towards MES college.”
“People may not be aware of this stunt man coming from nowhere and suddenly crashing on them while other vehicles are waiting for the signal. This person must be arrested immediately,” said Nayak.
Another local, Ramira Shaikh, said authorities should conduct an enquiry in the matter.
“The person must be arrested immediately and his licence suspended without giving him any chance for any explanation. What he considers a heroic act is a cheap one which could endanger the lives of others.”
“He should have been caught and thrashed by the motorists moving on roads at the time. He deserves a stringent punishment,” said Shaikh.
Despite efforts, the traffic police could not be contacted for comments in the matter.
