Biomedical waste treatment plant at Kundaim to start next week

PANAJI 

A Rs 10 crore worth state-of-the-art common bio-medical waste treatment facility which has been set up at Kundaim for scientific management and disposal of bio-medical waste generated within the state is likely to be inaugurated next week. 

The facility has been set up at Kundaim Industrial Estate in land measuring 10,000 sq m which has been handed over to Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) by the Goa Industrial Development Corporation on a lease rent.  

GWMC has also signed a concession agreement with M/s Biotic Waste Solutions Pvt Ltd for setting up the plant on Build Own Operate Transfer (BOOT) basis. 

Goa generates around 2,500 kg of biomedical waste per day.
