The Rashtriya OBC Mahasangh (Goa State) submitted a memorandum to the deputy collector putting forth demands for quotas and benefits for the OBC community.
“The Mahasangh has demanded a caste wise census of the OBC community in the forthcoming census of India,” said Madhu Naik, President of Goa OBC Mahasangh.
“The Mahasangh has also demanded an amendment in the Constitution to reserve seats in Zilla Panchayats and Municipalities and for the offices of chairpersons in various committees,” said Naik.
He said the Mahasangh has placed a demand to establish a separate OBC ministry by allocating budget in proportion to the population of the OBC community, filling up 27% quota in all recruitments at government departments as early as possible and reservation to OBC employees in promotion.
The Mahasangh has also requested authorities to amend the online form and to withdraw the income option to enable eligible OBC persons to obtain a caste certificate in a time-bound manner, to enable them to avail benefits of government schemes and reservations in job and admissions.
