Birch fire: All three owners out on bail

MAPUSA

All three owners of Birch by Romeo Lane, the nightclub where a devastating fire claimed 25 lives, are now out of jail on bail, with co-owner Ajay Gupta walking out of Colvale prison on Thursday.

Gupta’s release came two days after brothers Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, the other co-owners of the Arpora nightclub, walked free following the grant of bail by a Mapusa court in the fire case.

A Mapusa court granted Gupta bail in the December 6, 2025 fire case.

He was also granted bail on Wednesday in a separate case involving an allegedly forged health certificate.

With Gupta’s release, all three co-owners are now out of prison on bail in the cases linked to the tragedy that killed 25 people.

Their release marks a significant development in the criminal proceedings arising from one of Goa’s deadliest nightclub disasters.

However, bail does not amount to an acquittal, and the cases against the accused will continue through the legal process. While the accused owners have secured their release from custody, the legal battle over accountability for the deaths is far from over.
