Shiv Sena State President Jitesh Kamat said by eliminating opposition parties, the Bharatitya Janata Party was pushing the country back into slavery and vowed to work hard to uphold the ideals of democracy in the State.
Kamat also said that Shiv Sena was the only party which raised its voice against the wrong policies of the BJP-led State government during the 2017-2022 term.
“A strong opposition party is needed to keep democracy intact. The BJP is taking back our country into slavery by eliminating all opposition parties. This is not a good sign and we must all join hands to resist such one-party rule,” Kamat said.
The Shiv Sena chief was addressing a gathering while inaugurating the Shiv Sena offices (shakha) in Calangute and Anjuna. Secretary of the Mumbai Football Association and Yuva Sena office bearer Ryan Menezes was the chief guest on the occasion.
On the occasion, Marwin Cardo was appointed as the Anjuna Shakha Pramukh (branch chief) while Charles Cardo is appointed as Calangute Shakha Pramukh.
Speaking further, Kamat said even though politically the Shiv Sena could not achieve success in the State in the just concluded assembly elections, no one can deny that the Sena was the only party that raised its voice against the wrong policies of the government during the last term from 2017 to 2022.
“We need to reboot and work to become the voice of Goans without getting impacted or frustrated by the assembly elections results,” he said.
The Yuva Sena office bearer Ryan Menezes said Shiv Sena was a party that emphasises more on social causes rather than only politics and creates a place in people's hearts through social work.
“Uddhavsaheb’s record-breaking performance during the Covid era when he was the chief minister has been hailed at the international level,” Menezes said.
“Adityasaheb is an inspiration for the youth and his fan following is increasing day by day. The fate of those going with the Shinde group is temporary,” he added.
He appreciated that a majority of the office-bearers and the Shiv Sainiks in Goa stood firmly behind Uddhav Thackeray.
Head of the branches expansion committee Raju Virdikar expressed his intention to start branches in every city and panchayat area.
Secretary Vandana Lobo, North District Secretary Mehboob Melban, Annie D'Souza, Upa Rajya Pramukh Subhash Kerkar, Social Media Coordinator Pratik Shirodkar and others were also present.
