With an ailing CM Manohar Parrikar leaving to Delhi for further medical care in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Saturday morning, a three-member central committee arrived in Goa on Sunday to take stock of the political turmoil in the state.
BJP National General Secretary Ram Lal, and B L Santosh (Goa observer) and Goa Maharashtra Sanghatan Mahamantri Vijay Puranik (Goa incharge) arrived in Goa on Sunday.
However, the observers were tight-lipped about any plans or strategies that would be discussed at the meetings in the state with various legislators that are part of the ruling government in Goa.
BJP General Secretary Ram Lal arrived at Dabolim airport at around 1.30 pm and was welcomed by Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar.
When questioned by the media, however, Ram Lal refused to comment on the prevailing political situation in the state and departed for Panaji along with Tendulkar.
According to Tendulkar, the central observers committee is likely to hold a series of meetings with BJP leaders and alliance partners “ Goa Forward party and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party “ along with the independent legislators over the next two days.
Portfolios with pending files must
be distributed, insists Vasco MLA
VASCO: Amidst the visit by central leaders in Goa to take stock of the political scenario in Goa, BJP’s Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida has said that he has expressed his point of view to the party leaders.
According to Almeida, portfolios with pending files must be distributed and a decision should be taken keeping in mind the interest of Goa and Goans.
“We have to respect Parrikar’s privacy, but governance is a continuous process. A decision has to be taken keeping in mind the interest of Goa and Goans,” said Almeida.
“ I have brought this to the notice of our party leaders, that in which ever department there are files that are pending under a particular portfolio could be distributed. This portfolio distribution could be done so that work and administration do not suffer,” he added.
