BJP demands MLA's resignation over viral sextortion video

BJP demands MLA's resignation over viral sextortion video

PANAJI: State BJP Spokesperson and former Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo has called for the sitting MLA's resignation in a viral sextortion scandal.

Addressing a press conference in Panaji today, Ticlo describing the incident as “disgraceful” and questioned why the MLA heeded to the accused's extorting demand if he was innocent.

"As per a police statement, the video in question was morphed but if that was the case, the MLA should not have paid the accused. He should immediately resign," the BJP leader demanded.

" There is no place for someone like this in politics, if the MLA was wronged why did he pay the accused he should’ve filed a complaint."

The MLA reportedly lost Rs 5 lakh over a year to Kukesh Rauta, an extortionist who threatened to release a morphed sexually explicit video. Rauta, from Odisha, was arrested by the Crime Branch, and the total amount demanded was Rs 5 crore.

Ticlo’s press conference came after the alleged morphed video circulated on social media despite Rauta being in police custody. Ticlo called for a thorough investigation, requesting Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to ensure the culprit, whether the MLA or the accused, faces justice.
