CANACONA
Stating the three farm laws passed by the central government would benefit farmers, Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar appealed to Canacona farmers not to fall prey to false propaganda by the opposition.
Tendulkar visited Canacona late Monday evening and in the presence of Dy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes, met a few farmers and sarpanchas in the MLA’s office at Chaudi.
Tendulkar highlighted the benefits of the three farm laws and also hit out at the opposition for criticising the government and the farm reforms.
“The State government has always protected the interests of farmers and even recently provided relief of Rs 6000 to each of the 17,000 Goan farmers,” Tendulkar said.
“You bring to my notice any difficulties faced by Canacona farmers and I will take it up with the State as well as the central government to resolve them,” assured the Rajya Sabha MP.
Deputy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes also appreciated the passing of farm laws and went on to praise Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile, some farmers present at the meet on Monday put forth their grievances before the MP and sought his assistance to resolve them.
Some of the grievances raised by Canacona farmers included the need to raise protection/retaining walls, de-silt rivers, provide adequate rates for farm produce, timely disbursement of government subsidy, enhancing government financial assistance, etc.
Cotigao Sarpanch Daya Gaonkar, Shristhal Sarpanch Ganesh Gaonkar, Cotigao Panch Paiek Velip, Manohar Velip, Vishal Desai, Sanjay Komarpant, Prasad Velip, Ajit Pai and Amey Puranik, were among those who took part in the discussions.
