The BJP Fatorda mandal has on Tuesday dared Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai to accept the gauntlet thrown by former MLA Damu Naik for a debate on the jobs provided to Fatordekars during his 10-year stint as MLA of the constituency.
A day after Goa Forward Party leaders made allegations against the former MLA Damu Naik, the BJP Fatorda mandal demanded that Sardesai come out openly with statistics on the number of jobs provided by him to the unemployed youth of Fatorda in the last 10 years.
“Sardesai was the MLA of Fatorda for the last 10 years. He became a minister and rose to become Deputy Chief Minister. An MLA, who was even perceived as a de facto Chief Minister, should tell Fatordekars how many jobs he provided to the youth of Fatorda in the last 10 years,” thundered BJP Fatorda Yuva morcha president Gajanan Karmali.
Addressing the media, Gajanan said that Damu worked silently in the constituency for the last 10 years when Sardesai was presiding as an MLA. “But the former MLA must have helped to get more than 700 jobs for the youth of Fatorda. Let Sardesai accept the challenge and show to the people how many jobs he provided during his tenure”, Gajanan said.
Milagrina Dias told the media that Damu Naik has been instrumental in providing jobs to the unemployed youth belonging to the Scheduled Tribe community. “I had attended a programme recently wherein we came to know how Damu had helped the ST youth to get jobs,” she added.
Another BJP leader questioned former councillor Raju Naik for blaming Damu for his daughter’s loss of government job, saying the people of Pajifond will not accept Raju’s familiar tactics of moving from one political camp to another.
Referring to the allegations made by outgoing MMC Chairperson Pooja Naik, another BJP woman leader challenged the former to outline her works, saying the ex-chairperson should recontest and get elected from her ward.
