Panchayats Minster Mauvin Godinho on Wednesday said the BJP was a non-communal and pro-development party which had more legislators from the minority community in the State government.

Godinho was speaking to reporters after a function to pay tributes to Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on his death anniversary in the presence of Sancoale ZP Anita Thorat, Chicalim Sarpanch Seby Pereira, MMC Councillor Vinod Kinlekar and others.

Godinho said it was wrong to term the BJP as a communal party.

“Today, there are more minority MLAs in the BJP State government and with my 45 years of active politics, I have got more recognition even at national level only after joining the BJP.”

“I have been representing many Groups of Ministers and the GST Council and BJP has never thought of pulling me down because I am from the minority community. Development works by the BJP in Goa is for the people to see," said Godinho.

The minister said Dr Mukherjee will be known for his sacrifice for the unity and integrity of the country. “He continues to serve us with his ideologies,” said Godinho.
