BJP leaders from Curtorim demand action over jobs scam allegations

Ask police to book those involved in ‘false’ accusations

MARGAO

BJP leaders from Curtorim constituency, Anthony Barbosa and Dr Sneha Bhagwat, on Wednesday appealed to the South Goa Superintendent of Police, Sunita Sawant, to bring to book the culprits involved in uploading a post linking them to a fake job scam.

Speaking separately to the media, Anthony Barbosa said that he had come to lodge a complaint against unknown persons for accusing him on social media in the job scam. “I have come to the police with a plea to bring the culprit to book. Anyone can check my bank balance as well as my property. I am ready for any probe by the authorities,” Anthony told the media.

He said an attempt had been made to tarnish the image of the ruling BJP by targeting him in a fake job scam case. “I know certain individuals are out to pull me down politically by spreading such fake news. Similar posts were circulated when the BJP had given me the ticket to fight the 2022 Assembly election from Curtorim. I do not know why these unknown persons are doing these fake things,” he said, while urging the police to zero in on the miscreants and bring them to book.

Meanwhile, Dr Sneha Bhagwat told the media that she had come to request SP Sunita Sawant to investigate and trace the culprits involved in spreading the news on social media. “When I received phone calls from my well-wishers that my name was being dragged into the job scam, I called up the news channel in-charge to find out the truth. However, the in-charge maintained that the channel had not posted any such news and the same was fake,” she said.

Dr Sneha pointed out that she was associated with the BJP because she was impressed by the principles and ideology of the party. “Just because I am a worker of the party, it gives no licence for the opponents to defame me and my party,” she said.

Dr Sneha urged the police to nab the culprits involved in defaming her and her party by linking her to a fake job scam.
