PONDA: Senior MGP leader and Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar has alleged that BJP leaders are not chowkidar but dacoits who targetted MLAs, adding that the BJP needs to be sent out of Goa.
The former deputy chief minister was speaking at a corner meeting in Shirshirem-Borim, in the presence of MGP candidate for Shiroda bypoll Deepak Dhavalikar, Abhay Prabhu and local leaders.
"Voters elect us for development and not for self-gain. We need to understand why Shiroda again went for by-election and who has gained out of this," Sudin said.
Coming down heavily on BJP leaders, Sudin said: “They are not chowkidars but dacoits. they loot the MLAs during night time. How we can call them chowkidars?”
"BJP will have no place in Goa after this election. People themselves will see to it and the BJP must be sent out of Goa."
Adopting a softer approach towards Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Sudin went on to add: “It is shame that Dr Sawant is camping and campaigning in Shiroda. The chief minister has understanding, but he should not listen those misguiding him."
Turning his attention to the mining issue, Sudin sought to know what the BJP MPs had done to restart mining in the State.
"Why has the mining issue not been resolved? I used to tell the BJP leaders that we should take the initiative to restart mining, but they did not listen to me. Unless we request central government, how can the process can go ahead?"
Commenting on the issue of defections, Sudin said BJP candidate Subhash Shirodkar had changed parties seven times, while Mahadev Naik had switched parties five times.
“I am with the MGP and will remain in the MGP till the end of my political career," said Sudin.
The senior MGP leader appealed to people not to fall prey to campaigns against the MGP and its leaders.
"Some are teaching people about Swabhiman. What is Swabhiman? Is it using abusive language in the cabinet meeting," asked Sudin.
ST leader Dilesh Gaonkar said Sudin Dhavalikar had helped many people, who could not afford to repair houses.
Deepak Dhavalikar said that he was surprised to see no mobile network coverage and no internet services at many places in Shiroda.
“How are youth expected to function without such facilities," he asked.
