CANACONA
Stating that the BJP must be defeated to establish a government of Goenkars, Goa Forward Party (GFP) President Vijai Sardesai insisted that only a strong alliance of like-minded and secular parties can achieve the improbable.
Addressing a GFP convention held in Shristhal-Canacona late Friday evening, Sardessai said GFP is committed to defeating the BJP and forming a Goenkar-rooted government in 2027.
‘The people of Goa are the party’s only ‘High Command’ and stated that a people’s manifesto for Canacona will be prepared with public participation to strengthen the party’s campaign,” said Sardesai.
Earlier, speakers blamed the Congress party for not following the alliance principle during Zilla Panchayat elections, even though the GFP had canvassed, worked and even provided their office for the Congress party during the assembly polls in Canacona constituency.
“Congress party is unable to adhere to the alliance religion,” said newly appointed GFP organisation leader Vikas Bhagat.
Incidentally, a notable absence at the convention was former minister Isidore Fernandes, who was inducted into the GFP before the last Zilla Panchayat elections.
The convention was addressed by GFP General Secretaries Mohandas Lolienkar, Prashant Naik, Sanguem ex-councilor and GFP leader Meshu D’Costa, Durgadas Kamat, Canacona Block GFP President Umesh Tubki, Datta (Pandurang) Gaonkar, Remy Borgesand others.
