Accusing the BJP of conspiring to have former RSS Goa unit chief Subhash Velingkar removed from his post, some RSS volunteers from Ponda have intensified their opposition to the BJP ahead of the 2017 assembly polls.
Velingkar, who played a vital role to intensify the protest against the BJP government over Medium of Instruction issue, was relieved following plans of Bhartiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) to float a political party.
Many RSS volunteers have already quit in his support and have vented out their anger against BJP leaders.
Speaking to The Goan, former RSS volunteer Adv Hrudhaynath Shirodkar, who claims to have resigned, said the decision to remove Velingkar from the post is undemocratic. “We know BJP is behind this conspiracy and we will definitely damage this party,” he said.
According to Shirodkar, BBSM will soon float a political party, through which they will teach a lesson to BJP. “It is 110 per cent that BJP will go home in next assembly election. They are dictators and we condemn their every act,” Shirodkar said.
RSS leader Manoj Amshekar said it’s unfortunate that Velingkar was removed from the post. “We should understand that he is not sacked, but was relieved from the post so he can give justice to his work in the BBSM,”
Amshekar said.
When asked why had they resigned en masse if he was not sacked but only relieved from his post, Amshekar replied: “This was not the proper time to relieve him.”
When asked if they would work against the BJP, he said: “In another three to four days, the picture will be clear.” But he declined to elaborate on the developments after 3-4 days. Govind Dev said Velingkar was not sacked but relieved from the post. “It’s not possible to hold two charges and he has been relieved from the post, so he can work in full swing for BBSM,” he said.
