This enables a girl to utilise this sum at 21 years where she gets a lumpsum,” Dr Salkar informed, adding that these maturity proceeds could then be utilised by the beneficiary girl towards her educational expenses, wedding, etc. He claimed that this sum fetches a high rate of interest @ 10%. rDr Salkar said he has appealed to the Margao and Fatorda BJP Mandals to adopt 10 girls. This, he said, will help many girls if 10 girls are adopted in every taluka of this State. rHe claimed that this scheme is also in sync with PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ concept. rHe informed that many doctors have promised to adopt such girls, particularly from the socially backward classes.
