MARGAO
BJP leaders, including Deputy CM Manohar Ajgaonkar and party general secretary Damu Naik, on Tuesday, termed Goa Forward’s withdrawal from the National Democratic Alliance as stage-managed with an eye on minority vote in the ensuing municipal election.
The duo further said that though the Goa Forward ministers were dropped from the Cabinet by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in July 2019, Sardesai was expecting re-induction during the last two years, but could not succeed as everyone was opposed to his return in the government.
Addressing the media to announce the decision of a group of minority community members to join the ruling BJP, Ajgaonkar said that the CM had dropped the Goa Forward minsters because of corruption in the TCP, adding that the people of Fatorda will now show Sardesai his place in the ensuing civic polls.
He warned that the government will not remain a silent spectator if any attempt is being made to target party workers in the municipal polls.
BJP leader Damu Naik said it is clear that the entire episode of withdrawing from the NDA was stage-managed with the help of some NGOs and activists. He appealed to the people of Fatorda to vote and elect candidates fielded by Vibrant Margao to get rid of the MLA and for progress of the constituency.
