While Succorina Fernandes filed her nomination papers before Returning Officer Ajit Panchwadkar accompanied by BJP leaders, Sonali Kale has filed her papers with the backing of the Shadow Council.
Kale told the media that she is contesting the by-poll since she wants to be the voice of the common man. “There’s no garbage collection in the city and we intend to streamline the waste collection. I will also take up with the civic body the question of rectification of the taxes imposed on the people,” she said.
On the other hand, Succcorina, who was accompanied by the BJP councillors and leaders, including Bhai Naik, said that she has received good response from the people of the ward and exuded confidence of winning
the seat.
The Digambar Kamat-backed candidate Deepa Shirodkar had filed her nomination papers for the seat, left vacant following the demise of councillor late
Ashlesha Naik.
