BJP trying to confuse people of Goa with jumlas: Aldona MLA THE GOAN NETWORK MAPUSA Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira said that

Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira said that BJP, which is famously known for its jumlas, was again trying to create confusion among the people by saying that more MLAs from the opposition camp were willing to side with the government.

Ferreira, on Wednesday, also said that he believed in constructive opposition but will not fall short in highlighting any scams and frauds done by those in power.

“I want to ask the BJP. Are you not happy with the numbers you have? Are you so unsafe, uncertain or are you not on good grounds that you need more people?” Ferreira said.

The Aldona legislator was reacting to the statement of BJP national secretary C T Ravi who recently said that more MLAs were expected to vote for the treasury benches.

Ferreira chose to remind how before the election and at the time of the election, the BJP’s WhatsApp University was super active with fake messages claiming that this and that leader was joining this and that party.

“Sometimes you know in politics…They (BJP) are famous for jumlas where they throw a ball and it keeps rolling and people get confused. Let him show the numbers he has. Let him show what support he has,” he retorted.

Admitting that a strong opposition was crucial for democracy, the Aldona MLA said that Congress will work to provide constructive opposition in the assembly.

“I will not like to make a drama in the assembly…by standing up and simply shouting and opposing. It must be a constructive opposition. It must be something for the good, and if there are real scams or frauds, we will point out and highlight,” he said.

He said there were many issues lined up like the job recruitment scam and tender scam which his party will highlight and demand an inquiry.

According to Ferreira, the delay in choosing the leader of the opposition should not be mixed with government formation.

Ready to shoulder any responsibility: Ferreira

MAPUSA:

Congress MLA Carlos Ferreira said that he was not in the race for the post of leader of the opposition but was ready to shoulder any responsibility offered by the party.

“I am not in the race for leader of the opposition. I made it very clear that a seasoned person must be chosen for the job. But if the party gives me any responsibility, I am ready to shoulder that responsibility. I will do justice to whatever role assigned to me,” Ferreira said.

“However, if it is not given, I will not be unhappy because I am a first-time MLA," he added.

He also said that he had met AICC observer Rajani Patil, who has been tasked with the job to assess the party's performance in the State elections.

“In my interaction with her, I expressed my views on the leader of the opposition and GPCC president’s post," he said.
