The BJP will overcome the internal bickering and clamour for party tickets and emerge victorious in 2022 assembly polls, said State BJP President, Sadanand Tanavade on Thursday, while suggesting that alliance doors were still open.
Tanavade also hoped that the Centre would take appropriate decision on the rise in fuel price to cushion its impact on the upcoming elections.
“We are confident of our organisational setup which will help us during the elections. We will overcome the internal fights and win the 2022 election handsomely,” said Tanavade, who was on a day’s visit in Tivim meeting various mandal representatives and party karyakartas in the constituency.
The State BJP chief was responding to the recent public spats between Ports Minister Michael Lobo and Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha and Godinho and more recently the tit for tat between Cumbarjua MLA Pandurang Madkaikar and Siddhesh Naik son of Union Minister Shripad Naik.
Tivim MLA Nilkant Halarnkar and other office bearers of the Tivim BJP mandal were also present.
Tanavade said the BJP was capable to win the 2022 assembly polls on its own strength but did not completely rule out alliance pacts with other parties.
“On alliance formation no political parties can afford to shut the doors till the last minute. Everything depends on the situation as the election nears. But as of now we are ready to fight the election on our own,” he said.
He further said that the party which struggled to find candidates in its formative years has grown in leaps and bounds and therefore several leaders wanted to contest on the BJP’s symbol. “In a democracy everyone has a right to claim a ticket. However, the final decision will be taken by the parliamentary board in Delhi,” Tanavade informed.
On the rising fuel price in the country, he said, the Central government will definitely take appropriate decision in the matter keeping in mind the States going for election in the next six months.
Tivim MLA, Nilkant Halarnkar said the free promises on education and health made by the Goa Forward Party will have no impact on the electorate.
He said his former rival Kiran Kandolkar had made similar promises when he became an MLA of Tivim but never managed to fulfill them.
