The BJP Yuva Morcha took out a rally in the commercial capital on Friday evening to commemorate four years of rule by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The motorcycle riders sporting party flags, went round the city on two-wheelers, shouting slogans in support of the Modi government’s achievements during the last four years of rule.
The rally, however, courted a controversy after the participants were found riding the two-wheelers without helmets. At least at the starting point of the rally at the Lohia Maidan, most of the participants were not found wearing the helmets. It could not be gathered whether the rider put on the helmets during the rally.
The rally was led by party leader Damu Naik, party South Goa spokesman Sharmad Raiturkar, Margao BJP Mandal president Subosh Govekar, Fatorda mandal president Arun Faldessai and a group of party workers.
Addressing the party workers, Damu Naik said the Modi-led government has a number of achievements to its credit, including providing a corruption-free government during the last four years. He pointed out that not a single corruption case could be cited against the government, adding that the credit goes to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Damu further said that Modi’s foreign tours had helped to lift India’s image across the world as a growing world power, saying the visits undertaken by the Prime Minister abroad has certainly placed the country amongst the comity of nations.
