A BMW car was completely gutted in a major fire on Thursday noon exactly near the Old market circle.
Traffic at the busy junction was disrupted for some time, before the fire brigade extinguished the fire.
The car was coming towards the circle from Colva road when motorists alerted the driver the vehicle being on fire. The car owner, Rohan Karekar immediately rushed out of the car fearing a blast, leaving his wallet and other items inside the vehicle.
The fire brigade turned up at the site and brought the fire under control, but by then the vehicle was completely gutted.
The ill-fated vehicle was later towed away and the road cleared for traffic.
