After being arrested by Canacona police on charges of assaulting his wife and actress, Poonam Pandey, barely days after they got married, film director Sam Ahmed Bombay has been directed to report to the Canacona police for four days after he secured bail on Tuesday night.
According to reports, Bombay skipped passing the night in custody of the Canacona police following a late evening bail granted by the JMFC Court in Canacona on a bond of Rs 20,000 and a surety.
JMFC judge Jagdish Pandurang Shanoor Audi directed Bombay to report to the police for a period four days and not to interfere with the witnesses and the complainant.
Bombay had been arrested on Tuesday on charges of assaulting and threatening Pandey at a starred hotel at Palolem beach. Pandey had filed a police complaint late Monday evening accusing her husband of assaulting her and threatening her with dire consequences. Pandey is reported to be currently shooting for a film in Goa.
Acting on the complaint, Canacona police later arrested Bombay under Sections 323, 504, 354, 506 (II) of IPC on Tuesday.
Canacona PSI Ramchandra M Naik is investigating the case further under the supervision of Canacona PI Tukaram Chawan.
According to national media reports, Poonam Pandey had recently tied the knot with Sam Bombay after being together for about three years at a private celebration in their home in Bandra-Mumbai on account of the Covid pandemic.
According to sources, the couple along with a film crew had arrived in Goa on September 16 for a film shoot, but the film shooting could not take place on account of heavy rains.
During their stay in a hotel at Palolem, the couple were involved in an argument, sources added.
