PANAJI
After Goa Forward, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and three independent MLAs -- Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte, Art & Culture Minister Govind Gaude and Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar -- have now openly come out in support of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who is contesting the Panaji by-poll scheduled for August 23.
Addressing a press conference with Gaonkar and Gaude, Khaunte said, "We have come together just to express our support to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for Panaji by-election. Panajimites have elected him time to time. They have given base to a person who has reached a level where no other Goan has reached."
Parrikar's boat is
sinking: Girish
PANAJI: Congress candidate for Panaji by-poll Girish Chodankar on Saturday claimed that he enjoys the support of Panaji's people, including BJP karyakartas.
Speaking at Congress House, Chodanar said, "BJP workers are working for change and they support me. Manohar Parrikar should convince his karyakartas first and then convince Panaji residents."
Commenting on the press briefs addressed over the last few days by coalition partners, Chodankar stated, "Parrikar has accepted his defeat and hence to salvage his sinking ‘boat', he is seeking help from big names.
