The Borim Urban Cooperative Credit Society on Thursday launched the Bharat Bill Payment System, fostering the digital India concept of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is the first society in Goa to accept payments under Bharat Bill Payment System.
The TJSB bank has provided this service to Borim Urban to attract people towards online payments. The Chairman of BUCCS Utkarsh Prabhu Borkar, regional head of TJSB Bank Arun Bhat, Ponda TJSB branch manager Milind Barve, Jayant Miringkar, vice presidenr Pandurang Naik and others were present on the occasion.
Arun Bhat commended the efforts of BUCCS to implement various mediums to encourage the banking sector. “There are various modes of payment in Bharat Bill Payment. This will help public to pay their bills. The recent trend suggest that digital mode challenge is accepted by society, which is a great achievement,” he said.
He advised BUCCS to collect all revenue bills and assured help in this area of online payments. “Utility bill payments can be paid under this scheme of Bharat Bill payment. People should use this service,” Bhat said.
Utkarsh Borkar said if people use online transactions for business, it would help eradicate the parallel black economy. “When we will minimize the use of currency notes, it will eradicate the counterfeit notes circulation. This will help our nation’s economy to stand tall,” Borkar said.
