Breakthrough in Cuncolim murder

MARGAO
The Cuncolim police is believed to have achieved a breakthrough in the murder of the security guard at the Cuncolim Industrial estate.

Sources in the know informed that the police nabbed the accused, 45-year old Lakshi Basumatary, a native  of Assam, who is also working as a security guard.

The police has recovered the weapon of assault, an iron pipe, at the instance of the accused. It is learnt that the Lakshi was nabbed from Margao by a police team headed by Cuncolim police station in-charge PI Therron D’Costa.

While preliminary interrogation of the accused has revealed that the accused allegedly murdered the victim on account of some previous enmity, the police are investigating the murder from all angles.

The 60-year-old security guard was found murdered at an industrial unit in the Cuncolim Industrial Estate.

The post-mortem report indicated that the deceased had sustained critical head injuries, which later proved fatal.
