The officials had decided to close the Zuari bridge to conduct an inspection on Sunday from 6 am to 9 am.
According to sources, it was compulsory for the students to remain present at 7.30 am at Salgaonkar College at Miramar to answer their exam. As it was decided to close the bridge on the same day and difficult for the students to appear for the exam on time, the parents and students had urged to take back the decision of bridge closure so they can reach the examination venue on time.
Acting on the request, the PWD officials decided to postpone the inspection and the Zuari bridge was kept open for all vehicular traffic. PWD sources said the inspection of bridge was postponed as the closure of the bridge would made difficult for the students to answer their exam.
