Bridge closure effect: trucks parked at Pernem inconvenience motorists

With the government banning all trucks from plying on the Mandovi bridge from 8 am to 10 pm, trucks proceeding from Maharashtra have been parked on both sides of NH17 in Pernem taluka, causing inconvenience to motorists.

According to locals, trucks proceeding from Maharashtra via Patradevi in the

evening have been parked on both sides of the NH17 blocking the roadside kiosks.

The restriction for entry ends at 10 pm.

“Some trucks reach after 8 am and wait till 10 pm due to which there is lot of traffic congestion,” complained a local. “The government should arrive at a solution or should find a suitable parking place for these trucks,” demanded the local.

Efforts to contact a Pernem traffic official were futile as he was on leave.
