"Konknni will always march forward and literature must be produced in all the scripts. One should write in the script he is comfortable because if we insist that he has to write in a particular script then injustice will be done to creative writing," expressed Dr Harischandra Nagvenkar.

He was speaking as chief guest at the function organised by Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) held at the Academy's Reginald Fernandes conference hall, to present the Book of the Year 2015 Award and the prize distribution ceremony of various literary competitions floated by the Academy.

Present on the dais were guest of honour Brazinho Soares and special invitee Natividade de Sa along with DKA president Premanand A Lotlikar and secretary Vincy Quadros.

Seeing many young writers coming forward to receive their prizes, Dr Nagvenkar went on to add that this was an indication of a bright future awaiting Konknni in the Roman script.

On the occasion, DKA's Book of the Year 2015 Award was presented to Marcos Gonsalves as well as prizes of various literary competitions were distributed. Certificates of participation were also presented to all the writers who had taken part in the competitions.

Dr Nagvenkar told the audience that if at all Goa and Konknni can bask in the glory of its victories it was only due to our bonds of unity and he went on to list some of these victories like the Opinion Poll, Statehood and Official recognition to Konknni. He also reminded that the early literary works were produced in Roman Konkani alone and added that efforts should be made to unite the Konknni people who are presently divided.

Brazinho Soares, Natividade de Sa, Marcos Gonsalves and Premanand A Lotlikar also spoke on the occasion.

Others present for the occasion included Tomazinho Cardozo, editor of Amcho Avaz, Fausto V da Costa, editor of Gulab, Konknni writers Pandharinath D Lotlikar, Selza Lopes, Brenda Menezes and Pio Esteves besides others who had come from different places of Goa.
