Goa Pradesh Congress Committee on Friday welcomed Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar back in the State and wished him good health.
The party also praised Health Minister Vishwajit Rane who took care to ensure that Parrikar got the best treatment by referring him at the right time to Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, and then to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York.
Congress spokesperson Sidhanath Buyao said that the State government should consider empanelling both these hospitals under the State government’s medical insurance scheme. “The ailment suffered by Parrikar is not unique to him. It can happen to anyone in the State,” said Buyao.
“We do not want anyone to get sick, but if these hospitals are empanelled, then people can have similar treatment and get cured the way Parrikar did,” he said.
Buyao said that all Goans would be thankful to the government if they considered making these two hospitals part of the medical scheme.
The party also said that after resuming office, Parrikar should try to put in place the affairs of the State that have gone haywire after being put in the hands of the Cabinet Advisory Council. The people of the State are suffering from problems which are leading to depression amongst the masses, the Congress said.
The party urged Parrikar and his government to think about the financial and psychological health of the masses, it asserted.
The Congress said that Parrikar, who has returned after a gap of three months, should review the grievances of the people before finalising his priorities.
Buyao also said that it is high time that the government calls for the monsoon session of the State Legislative Assembly to discuss issues of
the people.
