Calangute Police are actively searching for the owner of Down Town club in Baga after he and his staff were allegedly involved in a brutal attack on two brothers earlier this week.

Five bouncers from the club, located near Tito’s Lane, have already been arrested in connection with the assault, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Porvorim Vishwesh Karpe.

“The club owner is currently absconding, and we are pursuing leads to locate him and other associates who were involved in the attack,” Karpe said.

The club remains sealed by authorities following the violent altercation, which took place in the early hours of Monday.

The incident involved a group of 10 to 15 bouncers armed with wooden clubs, who attacked the two brothers after they attempted to intervene in a separate fight at the venue.

Both victims sustained severe head injuries in the assault.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to apprehend all individuals responsible for the attack.

Club owner’s criminal antecedents in his native place being probed

PANAJI: The Calangute police are investigating whether Maninder Singh alias Pagi, the absconding owner of Down Town Club in Baga, is involved in criminal offences at his native place.

Police sources told The Goan that they have established contact with their counterparts in Haryana and Punjab to assist in locating Singh. It is also learned that he is under investigation for allegedly selling spurious liquor at his native place. “He is a habitual offender, but we are gathering details to ascertain his previous offences, if any. We have also alerted other state police about his involvement in the present case,” said the source.

Singh’s business ventures in Goa have now come under the radar, with government sources claiming all permissions as well as the sale of liquor will be investigated.
