The helpline was launched by the Bharat Vikas Group (BVG), which has currently taken up the task of replacing all of Goa’s street lights with LEDs. The project has been taken under the EESL joint venture comprising PSUs of Ministry of Power, Government of India
and BVG.
BVG has said the state government was likely to save nearly Rs 128 crore after replacement of old conventional streetlights with high-quality efficient LED lights. So far around 52,000 lights have been replaced in North Goa, and 60,000 in the South. There are around 1.66 lakh street light fixtures in the coastal state, which would be replaced by LEDs. The tentative cost of the project is Rs 77.5 crore.
Hanmant R Gaikwad, Chairman BVG, said Goa would lead by example as highly efficient state when it comes to saving energy. “This initiative marks our entry in the Goa market. The new helpline number would further empower us to effectively tackle all issues at the ground level. We would like to encourage people to share their views and feedback and at the same time give us solutions to help us tackle the problems,” Gaikwad stated.
He said the company is confident of providing best in-line services and ensure timely completion and successful execution of the project. “This project has given us a very good opportunity to serve people of Goa and in future too we would like to help the state through our services and products,” he added.
The company, which is active in the agricultural sector as well, also announced the launch of a new-age mobile application to help empower the farming community.
Umesh Mane, Vice Chairman, BVG said, “The company’s products are result of indigenous research, which will help farmers to increase their productivity resulting in increased income. All the agriculture products are 100% herbal without any harmful effects. I am confident that these products would bring about a positive impact on the rural and agrarian economy of India.”
