PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral on Saturday said the newly constructed garbage treatment plant at Cacora in Curchorem, which is set to be inaugurated on May 30 on the occasion of Goa Statehood Day, would be dedicated to former chief minister late Manohar Parrikar as it was his idea of an indigenous garbage treatment plant at Cacora.Cabral was speaking to reporters during his visit to the plant to inspect the trial run of wet waste, after having inspected the trial run of dry waste earlier this month.
“The Garbage Treatment Plant at Cacora is in place and has been constructed using indigenous technology. It is a full-fledged treatment plant where all wet and dry waste will be treated till the process of getting the final product out of waste disposal,” said Cabral.
Cabral informed that minor works left at the plant, such as beautification, would be carried out simultaneously after the inauguration of the plant.
“Sewage treatment plants are now spread all over the country after being first adopted by Goa and the garbage treatment plants at Saligao and Cacora will be role garbage plants for other states to follow. For this, we must thank our former chief minister late Manohar Parrikar for his vision and ideologies in the overall development of our State,” the minister added.
