The Catholic Association of Goa (CAG) has written to the Goa Chief Electoral Officer over problems faced by voters in linking their names to the 2002 SIR Electoral Roll.

The CAG said many long-time voters cannot find their names in the digitised 2002 roll, even though they have valid voter IDs and have voted before and after 2002.

CAG president Cyril Fernandes said the missing data is likely due to record-keeping or digitisation errors and not the fault of voters.

He warned that this could lead to genuine voters being wrongly troubled or removed.

The CAG also sought clarity on the term ‘relative’ in enumeration forms, urging that it be given a wider meaning to include extended family members.
