Call made to take up work on Vasco signature project

VASCO

BJP state executive committee member Chandrakant Gawas has requested Urban Development Minister Milind Naik to take up works on the signature project and beautification of garden opposite railway station that could be an attraction to the tourists arriving in Port Town via railways.

Speaking to the media, Gawas said that the signature project of the Chief Officer’s bungalow had been pending since a very long time. After induction of Naik as Urban Development Minister and a subsequent developmental projects taken up by him after taking over the ministry had raised the bar of expectations of Vascokars towards the long pending project of Chief Officer’s bungalow, he said.

“The bhumi pooja for the project was done in the year 2012 and the government was kind enough to release a fund of Rs three crore. Plans were to build a commercial building but till today nothing has come up and the place is in a very pathetic stage. The place is being used as a garage and a parking area, and all the dump has been thrown there. The foundation stone is missing we,” Gawas added. He said, “The Urban Development Ministry is with Milind Naik and he is a resident of Vasco da Gama. Hence we have hopes that under his leadership the work will be taken up and completed as quickly as possible. The project could generate revenue for MMC that could be used for further development and also create employment opportunities.”

“I request Naik to intervene in this matter at the earliest and call all the authorities concerned and technical staff of MMC to ensure work is started at the earliest,”  said Gawas and added,

“I have also requested Naik to take up the beautification of a garden opposite the Vasco railway station. The beautification of the garden is also equally important because of its location. The garden has all the facilities like a fountain and also has a statue of Goa’s first Chief Minister Bhausaheb Bandodkar.”
