Calls for rescheduling HSSC exams to avoid clash with JEE (Mains)

MARGAO
Velim MLA Cruz Silva has knocked the doors of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant  with a plea to reschedule the Higher Secondary School examination dates since the HSSC exams coincide with the period when students prepare for the JEE (Mains) exams.

In a representation to the Chief Minister, the Velim MLA called for rescheduling the HSSC exam dates to alleviate the immense pressure faced by these students and ensure a level playing field for all.  “By allowing a reasonable gap of at least two weeks between the JEE (Mains) exams and the HSSC exams, we can provide students with the necessary time to recuperate, refocus, and approach the subsequent examinations with a clear mind and renewed vigour,” he said.

Saying the matter is in need of urgent attention and require proactive steps to address the genuine concerns of the hardworking students, Cruz said thoughtful consideration and timely intervention will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the academic well-being and future aspirations of the countless young minds.

“It has come to my notice that the tentative schedule for the HSSC exams is set to commence on February 1, 2025, coinciding with the period when students traditionally prepare for the JEE (Mains) exams. For the past two years, the JEE (Mains) examinations have been conducted from late January to early February. This overlap is a matter of serious concern as students vying for admissions into prestigious engineering colleges like Goa Engineering Colleges, NIT, or IIT may find it exceptionally challenging to balance their preparations for both exams effectively,” he said.
