Sleuths of the Goa Police's Crime Branch swooped down on a rented room in Siolim in the wee hours of Friday and arrested Nambong Fred of Cameroon who was found in illegal possession of a transparent polyethene bag containing multi-coloured tablets suspected to be Ecstasy tablets, weighing 13.172 grams
The 21-year-old Fred has been booked under sections 21(b) and 22 (c) of the NDPS Act 1985.
Another polythene bag which contained powder, suspected to be cocaine and weighing 61.787 grams was also seized from him.
In a statement, Superintendent of Police (Crime) Rahul Gupta, IPS, said the seized drugs were approximately worth Rs 15.25 lakh in the international market.
Gupta said, Fred's arrest has been intimated to the Cameroon consulate through the FRRO Panaji and a four-day police custody remand has been obtained from the JMFC's court in Mapusa.
All Supreme Court guidelines related to arrest have been complied and Police Inspector Manguesh Valvaikar is investigating the case, he added.
