The Margao Municipal garden pedestrian footpath near the busy SBI garden crossing collapsed, throwing up questions whether the footpath was damaged by any vehicle or the drain settled down dislocating the inter-locking pavers.
What came as a surprise to pedestrians and citizens was the delay by the Margao Municipal Council in repairing the footpath. Although the damage was noticed early on Thursday morning, repair work had not begun even by evening.
A senior citizen was seen standing in the damaged footpath to convey a message to the Municipal Councillors and Babus that the damaged footpath poses a death trap to the citizens.
