Fish vendors in Canacona were provided with kits to ensure better hygiene, proper storage of fish and more professional setup while selling fish.
Tribal Welfare Minister and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar distributed the kits to fish vendor of Canacona Constituency at function in the Ravindra Bhavan, Canacona.
The programme was organised by the fisheries department under the financial assistance programme to support and strengthen the livelihood of fish vendors in the region.
The deputy director of fisheries department, Poinguinim ZP member Ajit (Ajay) Lolienkar, Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar, All Goa Khsatriya Pagi Samaj (AGKPS) President Rudresh Namshikar, Panch Members Asmita Joshi, Chandrakant Sudhir, Mahesh Naik, AGKPS former president Divakar Pagi were among those present at the event.
“These fish vendor kits will help our fish vendors maintain better hygiene, ensure proper storage and freshness of fish, and provide a more professional setup for their sales. This support will increase income opportunities, reduce losses, and improve the overall working conditions for the fish vending community,” said Tawadkar.
