A public interaction programme was held under ‘Mission Life (Life for Environment)’ in Gaondongrim, Canacona focusing on Naquim and Groundwater Conservation.
The Central Ground Water Board, the apex organization for groundwater under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, organized a one-day public interaction programme on “Naquim & Groundwater Conservation” at Government High School Gaondongrem on Saturday.
Gaondongrem and Cotigao villages were selected for Naquim 2.0 studies by CGWB during the current year 2023-24. As a part of this initiative, an interschool poster competition and quiz competition were organised among three high schools: Government High School in Gaodongrem, Government High School in Cotigao, and Nirakar Education Society’s School, Tudal Gaodongrem.
In the interschool poster competition on the theme “Water Conservation,” around 75 students from the three schools participated.
An invocation song was presented by students from GHS Gaondongrim at the inaugural function. The public interaction programme was inaugurated by Ramesh N Gaonkar, DC/SDM, Sub-division Canacona, and Guests of Honor included Damodar R Gaonkar, Headmaster of Government High School Gaodongrim, who jointly lit a traditional lamp.
CGWB, SWR, Bengaluru Scientist Rahul R. Shende, in his keynote address, briefed the attendees about the aims and objectives of the interaction program. He shed light on the Mission Life and its importance in sustainability of resources and environmental protection. He led the recitation of the pledge of Mission Life, and everyone present in the programme took the pledge.
An interschool quiz competition was conducted by Sushant S Navarat, Scientist at CGWB, Belgaum, and Satbir Singh Muddar, Administrative Officer at CGWB, Bengaluru.
A total of 93 participants (55 females and 38 males) attended the interaction programme.
