A large number of voters from Quepem taluka cast their votes for the panchayat election and voting was overall peaceful in Quepen taluka.
Some locals at booth 9 in Xeldem said there was a verbal clash between a candidate and a man, who was accused of asking the voters at the booth to vote for a particular candidate.
A candidate raised objection and complained to the presiding officer, who later gave strict instructions to the police to clear the people standing beyond the permissible area.
The locals said the climate was good and there was no rainfall throughout the day, which was one of the reasons for a good voter turnout.
A large turnout of voters was witnessed in almost all panchayats of Quepem taluka, with Morpila exceeding 92 per cent and most panchayats recording over 80 per cent voter turnout.
